Volleyball votes first female president

Hadija Namanda is the newly elected Uganda Volleyball Federation president for the next four years.

Namanda managed to collect 57votes to beat Joseph Odong who came second with 40 votes and Eddie Okila who was third with 21 votes.

The elections were overseen by NCS assistant general secretary in charge of technical David Katende at Cooper Chimney Restaurant in Lugogo.

The elected office positions were taken as shown below.

President: Hadija Namanda

First Vice president: Isima Bagaga

Second Vice President: Patricia Ahumuza(unopposed

General Secretary: Cornelius Engwenyu

Treasurer: Adam Mugisha

District Association Representative, North: Innocent Komaketch(unopposed)

District Association Representative, East: Patrick Okore(unopposed)

Club Representative: Andrew Okapis(unopposed)

Uganda Volleyball Federation to unveil new leaders today

In a matter of hours now, Uganda Volleyball Federation could unveil new leaders in office.

The fraternity converges at Cooper Chimney restaurant at National Council of Sports (NCS) complex starting at 2:00pm to choose their president among Eddie Okilla, Hadijah Namanda and Joseph Odong.

Below is a list of Uganda Volleyball Federation aspirants for 2017-2021 in the different offices of the federation.

President: Eddie Okila, Joseph Odong, Hadijah Namanda

First Vice president: Joseph Mary Ssempiira, Isima Bagaga

Second Vice President: Patricia Ahumuza(unopposed)

General Secretary: Hassan Ssekajoolo, Cornelius Engwenyu

Treasurer: Apollo Kalanzi Mujabi, Adam Mugisha

District Association Representative North: Innocent Komaketch(unopposed)

District Association Representative East: Patrick Okore(unopposed)

Okello stars in Bulgarian League

Ugandan volleyball player Daudi Okello believes his performance is steadily improving at his new club in the Bulgarian team.

Okello plays for Marek Union Ivkoni volleyball club in the Bulgarian top league 

“I was told that it's not the way you start but the way you end. I’m trying to do my best to see how it will end,” Okello said.

Okello has stormed the league with a bang making impressive statistics that the Bulgarian volleyball officials are stunned by his abilities in jumping high; strike with power and speed with which he plays.

They have since asked him to check for banned substances.


VOLLEYBALL: Three battling for Volleyball Federation top job

Current Uganda Volleyball Federation treasurer Joseph Odong is seeking office of the federation president for the next four years.

Odong will be battling his second vice president Hadija Namanda and former technical director Eddy Okila who are also seeking the same office.

The elections will take place at Lugogo on January 8, 2017.

Previous competitions secretary of UVF Hassan Sekajoolo will contest with Cornelius Engwenyu for the office of the general secretary.

Apollo Mujabi and Adam Mugisha need the treasurer’s office.

Joseph Ssempiira and Isima Bagaga have gone for the office of the first vice president. Patricia Ahumuza is the only nominee for the office of the second vice president.
