Befriend each other -Bakkabulindi urges national associations

State Minister for Sports Charles Bakkabulindi has advised national sports federations and associations to consider themselves as a group that needs each other’s support in sports development.

The minister has also urged the sports bodies to avoid internal fights that has so many times taken them to courts of law.

The honorable minister was speaking at a workshop that National Council of Sports (NCS) organized to sensitise the 39 recognized associations/federations in Uganda.

“Consider yourselves as one and create friendships. Work together and support each other. Avoid in fights which you take to courts of law. It takes you backwards. Learn to reconcile or take your matters to your general assemblies," Bakkabulindi urged.

He said that all sports federations and associations need each other’s support grow.

Bakkabulindi also urged the associations to not entirely depend on NCS or government support but rather hustle for themselves and develop self-sustaining projects.

The minister cited FUFA as one of the national sports associations that normally hustles for themselves before seeking external or government hand in their football activities.

He also applauded NCS for bringing all the federations and associations together in workshop for them to learn what government requires from them.

The workshop that also had the federation/association officials air out their challenges in managing sports in Uganda attracted top officials from the ministry of Education and Sports.
